Sustainability and Social Good
Since day one, Corporate to Canvas has considered how our materials impact our earth and other animals. We have taken steps to (1) minimize waste, (2) avoid using toxic products, (3) never use animal products, and (4) give back to our community through fundraisers and donation.
The United Nation's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
Corporate to Canvas is committed to supporting these Sustainable Development Goals through social responsibility, ethical practices, and eco/animal friendly practices. We may be a small business, but we believe that "little-by-little, a little becomes a lot". |
Sustainable Art Materials
Brushes: Typical student-grade brushes shed bristles and the handles deteriorate causing frequent replacement and waste. We have invested in professional quality brushes that can be cleaned for months (even years) of use. Not only is it a better experience for the painter, but it keeps extra trash out of our landfills. Additionally, while traditional brushes are made of animal fur, we only use synthetic brushes as we do not support any form of animal cruelty.
Water Cups: We use glass mason jars that look nice on the table and provide a more study option than plastic stadium cups. They can be re-used for many years and glass is recyclable.

Palettes: Styrofoam is never an option. Instead we use paper plates that will break down.
Paint: We source non-toxic acrylic paint and buy in large bulk containers to minimize packaging waste.
Canvas: Our painting surfaces are made out of cotton canvas and are stretched over a wood frame. Traditional gesso (paint primer) is made out of rabbit skin glue - we do not use this, of course - painting surfaces are primed with an acrylic gesso. Also, demonstration canvases can be painted over numerous times and extra paintings are often donated.
Table Covers: Whenever possible, we save and reuse our white table covers. We also use recycled craft paper to protect tables.

Social Good and Community Give Back
In addition to the unique way we are able to run fundraisers, there are other ways Corporate to Canvas supports the social aspects of the Sustainability Development Goals.
Donation: Some teams intentionally create work for their office, others paint for the team building and bonding experience. If the team or an individual chooses not to keep their final painting, they will be donated to local organizations that shelter the unhoused, transitional homes, foster programs, and nursing homes / elder care facilities to bring a little cheer and color to their space - and some canvases may be donated to a local art school in North Park for students to paint over as they are learning. We are always happy to donate the artwork to an organization of your choosing as well.

Animal Rescue: The owner of Corporate to Canvas, Kimball Willson, is active with dog rescue organizations. Since she is often working from her home studio, this allows her the time and attention to foster orphaned puppies. Since 2019, she and her husband have cared for nearly 100 puppies. As a professional fine artist, she is a pet portrait painter (ArtByKimball.com) and donates financially to save and support rescue animals.
